Referral offer terms.
We pay AUD $1,000 for each recruiter you refer to Locket who goes on to make a hire through Locket. These terms are the whole of that promise — what has to happen, when we pay, and when we don’t.
The offer is run by Locket Pty Ltd, a company registered in Victoria, Australia. It sits alongside our Terms of Service, which continue to apply; where the two disagree about this offer, these terms prevail.
01
The offer
If you refer a recruiter to Locket using your personal referral link, and that recruiter later makes a qualifying hire through Locket (section 4), we will pay you AUD $1,000.
We pay once per referred recruiter, on their first qualifying hire. There is no limit on how many recruiters you may refer, and no cap on what you can earn in total. There is also no guarantee the offer will still be open tomorrow — see section 7.
The offer applies only to the recruiter referral link we issue when you request early access as a recruiter. Our job-seeker referral link is a separate, non-cash mechanic and earns no payment under these terms.
02
Who can refer, and who counts as a referred recruiter
To refer, you must:
- be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract;
- hold a Locket referral link of your own, which we issue when you request early access; and
- not be an employee, officer, or contractor of Locket, or a member of their immediate household.
For the person you refer to count, they must:
- be a recruiter, whether in-house or at an agency, hiring in their professional capacity;
- work at a different organisation from you. A colleague at your own employer or agency does not count, and neither does a related entity of it;
- not already hold a Locket account, sit on our waitlist, or be in an active sales conversation with us at the time they first use your link; and
- be a real, separate person. Referring yourself, an account you control, another email address of your own, or anyone acting at your direction to claim the payment does not count.
There is no geographic restriction on who may refer or be referred, but the offer is void where it would be unlawful, and we pay in Australian dollars regardless of where you are (section 5).
03
How we record and verify a referral
For a referral to count, the recruiter you refer must reach Locket through your referral link and then request access, without having already reached us another way. Only one referrer is recognised per referred recruiter; where more than one link has been followed, the first one we can evidence is the one we recognise.
We establish referrals by hand, and you should know exactly what that means. Our systems currently count how many times your link has been followed. They do not yet tie a particular signup back to a particular referral link, and there is no automated chain from a referral link through to a completed placement. So when a recruiter you referred makes a hire, we work the referral out by hand, from our records and from what you and they can tell us. We are building the automated chain, and until it exists this is how the offer runs.
The practical consequence is worth stating plainly: keep your own note of who you referred and when, and tell us at the time rather than after the hire. A referral you have told us about is far easier to establish than one reconstructed months later.
If you believe a qualifying hire has been missed, email us at hello@locketjobs.com and we will check. Where the evidence is unclear, we decide whether a referral and a qualifying hire occurred, acting reasonably on the information available to us.
04
What counts as a hire through Locket
A hire qualifies only when all of the following are true:
- the referred recruiter held an active, paid Locket subscription at the time of the placement;
- the placed candidate was found through Locket — their profile was surfaced to that recruiter on Locket before the placement was made;
- Locket invoiced the referred recruiter or their organisation a placement fee for that placement, under whatever commercial terms apply to them; and
- that invoice has been paid to us in full, the payment has cleared, and any refund, chargeback, or replacement-guarantee period attached to it has expired without being exercised.
The following do not qualify:
- hires the referred recruiter made outside Locket;
- invoices that go unpaid, are written off, are settled at a discount we did not agree in advance, or are later refunded or reversed;
- placements where the candidate does not start; and
- placements arranged principally to trigger a payment under this offer.
05
When and how we pay
We pay within 30 days of the hire qualifying under section 4, once you have given us what we need to pay you. A hire does not qualify until the invoice has cleared and any refund or replacement-guarantee period on it has expired, so the 30 days runs from that point rather than from the placement or from the payment landing.
Payment is AUD $1,000 by bank transfer to an account you nominate. We will ask for your name, your bank details, and any tax details we are required to collect before we can transfer anything. If you do not give us those details within 12 months of us telling you a payment is due, the payment lapses.
The payment is yours to declare. You are responsible for any tax on it, we may be required to withhold an amount where you have not supplied the tax details we ask for, and nothing here is tax advice. If you are employed, check your employer’s policy before accepting — a referral payment may sit badly with your employment terms or a conflict-of-interest policy, and that is a call for you to make, not us.
The payment cannot be transferred to someone else, and there is no alternative to it.
06
Fraud, spam, and abuse
Referral links are for sharing personally with recruiters you actually know. You may not spam, send unsolicited bulk messages, buy advertising against Locket’s name or trade marks, create fake accounts, or hold yourself out as speaking for Locket.
Where we reasonably believe a referral or a claimed hire is fabricated, self-dealt, collusive, or otherwise gamed, we may withhold payment, recover a payment already made, disqualify you from the offer and close your account. The prohibited-conduct rules in our Terms of Service apply here too; breaching them forfeits any payment otherwise due.
07
Changing or withdrawing the offer
We may change these terms, or withdraw the offer entirely, at any time and for any reason, by publishing the change on this page. A change takes effect when we publish it.
Referrals already in flight are protected. A referral recorded before a change takes effect is honoured under the terms in force on the day it was recorded, provided the qualifying hire happens within 12 months of that date. A recorded referral that has not produced a qualifying hire within 12 months expires, and no payment is due for it.
The offer is uncapped, which is the reason this section exists. We are not committing to run it indefinitely; we are committing to honour what was already recorded when we stop.
08
General
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and you and Locket submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria. Nothing in them excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it.
Promoter: Locket Pty Ltd, Victoria, Australia.
